Catherine and Shane’s digital fairytale began in 2016 when they met on a dating app and bonded over their shared Irish heritage. Their first date on the eve of the US elections, like all great love stories, involved zero flirting and an intense political debate.

Catherine noticed Shane was a man of few but carefully chosen words, and Shane discovered Catherine was a prolific talker with enough words for both of them.

In the early days, Catherine sent Shane a picture of a rainbow she’d seen on the west coast of Ireland. Shane replied that he’d marry her if she found a pot of gold at the end.

Just 9 short years later, after a few twists, turns and maybe one or two dramatic pauses, they are very excited to start the next chapter of their story. They will be celebrating their marriage (as well as Shane being right!) on the beautiful Kenmare Bay, bordered by both Kerry and Cork, where their family roots lie.
