How do I RSVP?
Please use the RSVP tab on the homepage of this site or contact Catherine directly. You can also email catherinelucy@hotmail.co.uk. We really hope you can make it, but we totally understand that not everyone we invite will be able to join us. If you can’t be with us in person, please know you’ll be missed and in our thoughts.
Is it really on a Thursday?
Yes! We know this isn’t the ideal day for a wedding, but after a pretty wild time of things, we’ve ended up booking this at relatively short notice. To secure this lovely venue which has special meaning to us, we’ve had to make a few compromises. These include the wedding date and the number of day guests we could have. We really hope everyone we invite can make it, but we understand that for many who have to travel it’s a big ask and we won’t be offended at all if you simply can’t make it work.
When should evening guests arrive?
The day reception will wrap up around 8pm after which we’ll move to The Stables Brasserie on site (a 2 min walk from the main venue) for an evening reception which will go until 2am. There will be food around 10pm.
Our numbers for the day reception were extremely limited so if you’re able to make the trip to celebrate with us for the evening then we are absolutely delighted to welcome you. For those who can’t make it, we completely understand and we’ll raise a glass to you on the night!
Are children invited?
Unfortunately we’re only able to include our nieces and nephews at the ceremony and reception. We really appreciate you making childcare arrangements ahead of time so you can celebrate with us.
How do I get there?
Sheen Falls Lodge is located on Kenmare Bay, next to the Sheen River, on the outskirts of the popular town of Kenmare (the Lodge is a 5 minute drive from the town centre). The closest airports are Kerry (a 50 minute drive - take the route through Killarney National Park if you’ve never been!) or Cork (a 90 minute drive). It’s about a 4 hour drive from Dublin. If you’re flying, we’d recommend hiring a car as public transport is limited. If you’re not planning to stay on site, you can drive to Sheen Falls Lodge and park in the guest car park, or you can book a taxi to drop you off and collect you, but we’d recommend doing this in advance. Remember there is no Uber in Ireland.
More details can be found under the Travel & Hotels tab.
Where should I stay?
You can stay at Sheen Falls Lodge, a beautiful 5 star hotel with gorgeous views of Kenmare Bay and the rushing Sheen River. We’ve provisionally reserved a block of rooms at a preferential rate of €350 (approx £295) per night for bed and breakfast. This rate is available across 2 nights for wedding guests. Email reservations@sheenfallslodge.ie or call +353646641600 to book and provide your card details (but you won’t pay until departure). If you would like other options, check under the Travel & Hotels tab for our recommendations.
Will it rain?
Probably. But you don’t visit Ireland for the weather!
The ceremony will take place in the old stone Boathouse overlooking the Bay, a 2 minute walk from the main Lodge where the reception will take place. You can borrow umbrellas at reception if needed.
Will it be an open bar?
Yes - sláinte!
What time does it finish?
Entertainment will play until 1am and the bar will close at 2am.
At any point during the day can I make a presentation on the Irish rebellion or any other historical or political topic I enjoy?
No, Nick. You can’t.
